Gradienttifunktion is a term used in mathematics, particularly in multivariable calculus, to describe a function that outputs the gradient of another function. The gradient itself is a vector that points in the direction of the greatest rate of increase of a scalar-valued function and whose magnitude is that rate of increase. Therefore, a gradienttifunktion takes a point in space as input and returns a vector representing the gradient of an underlying function at that specific point.

To be precise, if we have a scalar-valued function $f(x_1, x_2, ..., x_n)$, its gradient is denoted by $\nabla f$ and is a vector whose components are the partial derivatives of $f$ with respect to each variable: $\nabla f = (\frac{\partial f}{\partial x_1}, \frac{\partial f}{\partial x_2}, ..., \frac{\partial f}{\partial x_n})$.
