Gonádokban is a term that refers to the gonads, which are the primary reproductive organs in animals. In males, the gonads are the testes, which produce sperm and male hormones like testosterone. In females, the gonads are the ovaries, which produce eggs and female hormones like estrogen and progesterone. The development of gonads begins early in embryonic development. In humans, the gonads originate from a pair of undifferentiated structures. The Y chromosome contains a gene called SRY, which initiates the development of testes in males. In the absence of SRY, the gonads typically develop into ovaries.
