Gommes is a term used in several languages to describe two distinct product groups that share a name but serve different purposes: erasers used to remove graphite marks from paper, and soft, gelatin-based candies commonly referred to as gummies. In everyday French, gomme denotes an eraser; in confectionery contexts, gommes describe gummy candies.

Gomme erasers are typically made from natural rubber or synthetic polymers such as vinyl. They are used by applying light pressure to graphite marks on paper, lifting graphite from the surface. Erasers come in many shapes and textures, including blocks, pencils with detachable erasers, and novelty shapes. Some modern erasers are designed to shed less debris or to erase pencil marks more evenly.

Gommes candies are gelatin-based confections that melt in the mouth with a chewy texture and fruit flavors. Core ingredients usually include gelatin, sugar, water, flavorings, and colorings, sometimes with a sour coating. They appear in a wide range of shapes, notably bears and worms. Gelatin makes them unsuitable for strict vegetarians or vegans unless plant-based alternatives (pectin or agar) are used.

In confectionery, gommes are regulated as food products, with labeling requirements for allergens and ingredients. In stationery, erasers are regulated for consumer safety and material composition in different markets. The term reflects a cross-language usage for items named for a "gum" or rubbery material.
