Genomikus is an adjective describing anything related to genomics, the interdisciplinary field that studies genomes—the complete set of genetic material present in an organism or cell. Genomics seeks to understand the structure, function, evolution and mapping of genomes, as well as how gene networks interact with each other and with the environment.

The field relies on technologies such as high-throughput DNA sequencing, computational analysis, and large-scale data resources. Core activities include genome sequencing and assembly, annotation of genes and regulatory elements, and comparative genomics to identify conserved and divergent features across species.
