gegenphasige

Gegenphasige is a German adjective used in technical and scientific contexts to describe quantities, signals, or waves whose phase relationship is opposite, typically about 180 degrees out of phase. In German-language literature, gegenephased elements are said to be in Gegenphase, meaning their oscillations peak when the other troughs.

In physics and engineering, two sinusoidal signals are geginephasig when they differ by π radians. If x(t) = A sin(ωt) and y(t) = A sin(ωt + π) = −A sin(ωt), their sum is zero, assuming equal amplitudes and exact phase opposition.
