Fülnyúláskor refers to a Hungarian term describing the sensation of ear fullness or pressure. This subjective feeling can stem from various causes, often related to changes in air pressure, fluid in the middle ear, or blockages within the ear canal.

One common reason for fülnyúláskor is rapid altitude changes, such as during airplane ascent or descent, or when traveling through mountains. This phenomenon, known as ear barotrauma, occurs when the pressure outside the ear differs significantly from the pressure within the middle ear. The Eustachian tube, which normally equalizes this pressure, may not function quickly enough.

Another frequent cause is the presence of earwax (cerumen) impaction. Excessive earwax can build up and block the ear canal, leading to a feeling of fullness, muffled hearing, and sometimes even pain. Infections of the middle ear (otitis media) or outer ear (otitis externa) can also trigger this sensation due to inflammation and fluid accumulation.

Less common causes might include certain neurological conditions, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, or even side effects of some medications. If fülnyúláskor is persistent, accompanied by pain, significant hearing loss, or discharge, it is advisable to consult a medical professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.
