Futuuridoptsioonid, also known as futures options, are financial contracts that give the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to enter into a predetermined futures contract at a specified price before its expiration date. The seller of the option is obligated to fulfill the terms of the futures contract if the buyer exercises their right.

There are two primary types of futures options: call options and put options. A call option gives the buyer the right to buy the underlying futures contract, while a put option gives the buyer the right to sell it. The specified price at which the futures contract can be entered is called the strike price. The date on which the option expires is known as the expiration date.

Purchasing a futures option requires paying a premium to the seller. This premium is the cost of acquiring the right to enter the futures contract. If the market price of the underlying futures contract moves favorably for the option holder, they can exercise their option to profit. If the market moves unfavorably, or if the option expires out-of-the-money, the buyer's loss is limited to the premium paid. The seller, on the other hand, receives the premium but faces potentially unlimited risk if the market moves significantly against their position.

Futures options are used by traders and investors for various purposes, including hedging against potential price fluctuations in the underlying futures market and speculating on future price movements. They offer leverage, meaning a relatively small premium can control a much larger value of the underlying futures contract.
