frontalmuscle
Frontalmuscle, also known as the frontalis muscle, is a small, triangular muscle located in the forehead region of the human face. It is one of the muscles of facial expression and is innervated by the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII). The primary function of the frontalmuscle is to raise the eyebrows and wrinkle the forehead, which is a common expression of surprise or concentration. It also plays a role in the blink reflex, working in conjunction with the orbicularis oculi muscle to close the eyelids. The muscle originates from the supraorbital margin and inserts into the skin of the forehead. It is supplied by branches of the facial artery and drained by facial veins. The frontalmuscle is a key component in the complex interplay of muscles that control facial expressions and movements.
