Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is an online fantasy football game based on the players and results of the English Premier League. It is run by the Premier League and is free to play. Participants create a virtual squad of real players and earn points based on those players’ actual performances in Premier League matches during each gameweek.

Players begin with a fixed budget to assemble a squad of up to 15 players, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. A starting lineup of 11 earns points each gameweek, while four bench players sit out unless they are substituted in. Transfers can be made between gameweeks, with a limited number of free transfers and potential point penalties for extra transfers.

The game features special chips that can alter scoring or transfers, including Wildcard (unlimited transfers for a period), Free Hit (a one-week reset of the squad), Bench Boost (points from bench players count), and Triple Captain (triples the captain’s score). Double gameweeks, when teams play twice in a gameweek, offer increased scoring opportunities.

Players compete in public leagues or private leagues, with rankings and occasional prizes based on global or league-specific performance. FPL is accessible via the official website and mobile apps, with live scoring updates during matches and ongoing feature updates. The game has grown into a widely followed fantasy sport activity since its introduction in the early 2010s.
