Fotonparets is a term used in theoretical physics to describe a bound state of two photons. Unlike elementary particles like electrons or quarks, photons are their own antiparticles and typically do not interact with each other directly. However, under specific conditions, such as in the presence of strong electromagnetic fields or exotic matter, two photons can effectively interact and form a temporary bound state.

The concept of photon-photon scattering, which is a precursor to the formation of a fotonparets, was predicted by quantum electrodynamics (QED). This scattering occurs when photons, in essence, momentarily create and annihilate virtual charged particle-antiparticle pairs, such as electron-positron pairs. These virtual particles mediate the interaction, allowing the photons to exchange momentum and energy. While this interaction is weak under normal circumstances, it can become significant in extreme environments.

The existence of fotonparets has not yet been directly observed experimentally, but it remains a topic of theoretical interest. Detecting such a bound state would provide further validation of QED and offer insights into the behavior of light under extreme conditions. Experiments are ongoing, particularly those involving high-intensity lasers, that aim to probe the non-linear interactions of photons and potentially observe signatures of fotonparets or related phenomena.
