Forráspontokról is a term that refers to the specific temperature at which a substance transitions from a liquid to a gaseous state. This phenomenon is also known as boiling. The forráspont is a characteristic property of a substance and can be influenced by external factors, most notably pressure. Under standard atmospheric pressure, each pure substance has a unique forráspont. For instance, water boils at 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit) at sea level.

When a liquid is heated, its molecules gain kinetic energy and move faster. As the temperature rises, the vapor pressure of the liquid increases. When the vapor pressure equals the surrounding atmospheric pressure, the liquid begins to boil, and bubbles of vapor form within the liquid and rise to the surface. The forráspont is reached when this internal vaporization occurs throughout the bulk of the liquid.
