fononer

Fononer is a hypothetical quasiparticle proposed in discussions of solid-state physics to describe a coupled vibrational-electronic excitation in crystalline materials. In this view, a fononer forms when lattice vibrations (phonons) interact strongly with an electronic excitation, producing a bound, propagating quantum that carries both vibrational energy and electronic information.

Theoretical models predict that fononers would have a hybrid dispersion relation, with characteristics intermediate between phonons and exciton-like excitations.
