Folyadékmérő, also known as a liquid level indicator or gauge, is a device used to measure the level of a liquid within a container. These devices are crucial in various industrial, commercial, and domestic applications to monitor and control fluid levels, ensuring proper operation, preventing overflow, and maintaining safety.

There are several types of folyadékmérők, each operating on different principles. Mechanical float gauges are common, utilizing a float that rises and falls with the liquid level, connected to a visual indicator. Magnetic level indicators use a float with a magnet that actuates external indicators through a non-magnetic tube.

Ultrasonic level sensors emit sound waves and measure the time it takes for the echo to return from the liquid surface, calculating the distance and thus the level. Radar level sensors function similarly but use electromagnetic waves. Capacitance probes measure the change in capacitance between a probe and the liquid, which varies with the liquid level.

Hydrostatic level sensors measure the pressure exerted by the liquid column, which is directly proportional to the depth. Sight glasses, essentially transparent tubes or windows, offer a direct visual observation of the liquid level. The choice of folyadékmérő depends on factors such as the type of liquid, operating temperature and pressure, required accuracy, and cost considerations. They are essential for tasks ranging from monitoring fuel tanks to controlling water levels in industrial processes.
