Flashmuistit, or flash memories, are non-volatile electronic storage devices that retain data even when power is removed. It is non-volatile, meaning it retains data without power, and it is more durable as it has no moving parts. Flash memory also offers faster read and write speeds, lower power consumption, and compact size. However, it has a limited number of write/erase cycles, which can degrade over time, and it is more expensive per gigabyte compared to HDDs.

Flash memory is subject to various reliability issues, including data retention, write/erase endurance, and error correction. Manufacturers use error correction codes (ECC) to mitigate these issues. Flash memory is continuously evolving, with advancements in technology leading to higher densities, faster speeds, and improved reliability. As a result, flash memory has become a fundamental component in modern electronic devices, enabling the storage and retrieval of vast amounts of data efficiently.
