fasetpunktet

Fasetpunktet (the facet point) is a term used in Norwegian-language technical discussions with varying meanings depending on context. It is not widely defined in standard reference works, and its precise meaning can differ between geometry, gemology, and computer graphics.

In geometry, fasetpunktet is sometimes used informally to refer to a vertex, the intersection point of two or more faces of a polyhedron. In computer graphics and 3D modeling, faceted surfaces are built from polygons; the innermost corner where several facets meet is conceptually a vertex, sometimes referred to by lay readers or non-native materials as fasetpunktet; again this usage is informal.
