Exponentialtyp is a term used in mathematical contexts to denote a class of objects whose growth is controlled by an exponential bound in a given variable. Informally, an object f is said to be of exponentialtyp τ if there exist constants C > 0 and τ ≥ 0 such that |f(z)| ≤ C exp(τ|z|) for all z in the domain under consideration. The concept echoes the classical notion of exponential type in complex analysis, where the type τ quantifies the maximal exponential growth rate of a function.

Formal properties of exponentialtyp include stability under basic operations. If f has exponentialtyp τ1 and g has exponentialtyp τ2, then f + g is typically of exponentialtyp max(τ1, τ2). Multiplication by a polynomial preserves the exponentialtyp bound, and taking derivatives generally preserves the class, possibly with the same or a slightly larger type.
