Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union, tasked with producing and disseminating official statistics at the EU level to inform policy, research, and public understanding. It gathers, harmonizes, and publishes data that enable comparisons across member states and over time.

As a Directorate-General of the European Commission, Eurostat operates within the European Statistical System (ESS), a collaborative network that includes national statistical institutes and other EU bodies.
