Etämyyntisopimuksille is a Finnish term that refers to distance selling contracts. These are agreements where a consumer and a seller enter into a contract without being physically present in the same location. This typically happens through online stores, mail order catalogs, telephone sales, or television shopping. The key characteristic of an etämyyntisopimus is that the consumer makes the purchasing decision based on information provided remotely.

Finnish law, in line with EU directives, provides specific regulations for etämyyntisopimuksille to protect consumers. A crucial aspect is the consumer's right of withdrawal, often referred to as a cooling-off period. Within a specified timeframe, usually 14 days from receiving the goods or the conclusion of the service contract, the consumer can cancel the contract without giving any reason and without incurring any costs beyond the direct return costs.

Sellers are obligated to provide clear and comprehensive information to consumers before a distance selling contract is concluded. This includes details about the seller's identity, the main characteristics of the goods or services, the total price including taxes, delivery costs, payment arrangements, the right of withdrawal, and the duration of the contract.
