Eskoslovenskou refers to the former Czechoslovakia, a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from 1918 to 1992. Its territory encompassed the present-day Czech Republic and Slovakia. The country was formed after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire following World War I, uniting Czechs and Slovaks into a single state.

The interwar period saw Czechoslovakia establish itself as a democratic nation with a developed industrial base. However, its existence was significantly impacted by World War II, leading to its occupation by Nazi Germany and subsequent Soviet influence after the war. In 1948, the country became a communist state under the influence of the Soviet Union.

Despite periods of political repression, Czechoslovakia experienced a brief thaw during the Prague Spring of 1968, an attempt at liberalization that was ultimately crushed by a Warsaw Pact invasion. The Velvet Revolution in 1989 brought an end to communist rule and ushered in a period of democratic transition.

In 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully dissolved into two separate countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, a process often referred to as the Velvet Divorce. The legacy of Czechoslovakia continues to be relevant in the cultural, historical, and political landscapes of both its successor states.
