An entrained flow gasifier is a type of gasification reactor where finely pulverized solid fuel is injected along with a gasifying agent, typically steam or oxygen, into a high-temperature reaction zone. The fuel particles are so small that they remain suspended in the gas flow throughout the process. This high degree of mixing and the high temperatures, often exceeding 1200 degrees Celsius, lead to very rapid and almost complete conversion of the fuel into syngas. Syngas, primarily composed of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, is a valuable synthesis gas used for producing electricity, chemicals, and liquid fuels.
The key characteristic of entrained flow gasifiers is the short residence time of the fuel particles within
