Damage to the entorhinal cortex can result in a condition known as temporal lobe epilepsy, which is characterized by recurrent seizures originating in the temporal lobe. Additionally, damage to the entorhinal cortex can lead to memory impairments, including anterograde amnesia, the inability to form new memories, and retrograde amnesia, the inability to recall past memories. These memory impairments are thought to be due to the disruption of the connection between the entorhinal cortex and the hippocampus.
