engenioso
Engenioso is an adjective used in Portuguese to describe people or things marked by ingenuity, cleverness, or inventiveness. The standard Portuguese form is engenhoso, with an h after the n. The variant engonoso/engenoso (without the h) is much less common and is often considered a spelling error or regional variation. The word derives from Latin ingeniosus, from ingenium meaning natural talent or cleverness, and is cognate with the Spanish ingenioso and the English ingenious.
