Energyout is a term used across physics, engineering, and environmental science to denote the amount of energy produced, released, or delivered by a system over a specified period. It is usually discussed in relation to energyin, the energy supplied to the system, and to any changes in stored energy within the system.

In thermodynamics, the general energy balance states that the change in a system’s internal energy (ΔU) equals the energy in minus the energy out (ΔU = Ein − Eout). Energyout can take many forms, including electrical energy delivered by a generator, thermal energy emitted by a heater, or radiant energy released by a lamp. It is typically expressed as instantaneous power (watts) or as cumulative energy over time (joules or kilowatt-hours).
