The kilowatt-hour (kWh) is frequently used for electrical energy, particularly in billing by utility companies. One kilowatt-hour represents the energy consumed by a device with a power of one kilowatt operating for one hour.

In older or specialized contexts, other units like the British Thermal Unit (BTU) for heat or the electronvolt (eV) for atomic and subatomic particle energies might be encountered. Understanding the relationships between these various energiaühikud is important for scientific and practical applications, allowing for conversions between different measurement systems.
