elinkeinoministeriö

Elinkeinoministeriö, officially Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö (TEM) in Finnish, is a central government ministry of Finland. It is responsible for economic policy, industry, energy, entrepreneurship, and employment policy. The ministry is commonly referred to by its Finnish name elinkeinoministeriö and by the English title Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

Its duties include formulating and implementing policies to foster growth, improve employment, support research and development, and ensure a functional business environment. It also directs energy policy, industrial policy, and competition policy at the national level. The TEM coordinates with other ministries, regional authorities, and EU institutions; it oversees state-owned agencies such as Business Finland, which funds and promotes innovation and export, and Finnvera, which provides financing.

The ministry is based in Helsinki and serves as a key instrument of the government’s economic policy. It is led by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment, and supported by deputy ministers and civil servants.
