Elektronátadási, often translated as electron transfer, is a fundamental chemical process involving the movement of one or more electrons from one chemical entity to another. This phenomenon is central to a vast array of chemical reactions, including oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the functioning of electrochemical cells. Electron transfer can occur through various mechanisms, such as direct contact between reacting species, mediated transfer through ligands or solvent molecules, or long-range transfer.

The driving force for electron transfer is typically the difference in redox potentials between the electron donor and the electron acceptor.
