Elektriseerimise refers to the process of imparting an electric charge to an object. This can occur through various means, primarily contact, friction, or induction. When two objects come into contact, electrons can transfer from one to the other, resulting in one object becoming positively charged and the other negatively charged. This is known as charging by conduction.

Frictional electricity, or triboelectricity, occurs when two different materials are rubbed together. The difference in their electron affinity causes electrons to be stripped from one material and deposited onto the other. The resulting charges depend on the specific materials involved. Static electricity is a common manifestation of this phenomenon, where the charges accumulate on the surface of an object.

Charging by induction is a method where an electrically charged object is brought near a conductor without touching it. The presence of the charged object causes a redistribution of charges within the conductor. If the conductor is then grounded while the charged object is still nearby, some of the induced charge will flow to or from the ground, leaving the conductor with a net charge opposite to that of the inducing object once the ground connection is removed and the inducing object is taken away. Elektriseerimise is a fundamental concept in electrostatics and has numerous applications, from electrostatic precipitators used in pollution control to the operation of photocopiers.
