Electromosmágneses, also known as electromagnetic forces, are one of the four fundamental forces of nature, alongside the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, and gravity. This force is responsible for a vast array of phenomena, from the attraction between oppositely charged particles to the interaction of light with matter. It governs the behavior of atoms and molecules, explains why objects have distinct properties like color and hardness, and underlies technologies such as electricity, magnetism, and radio waves.

The electromagnetic force can be attractive or repulsive, depending on the charges of the interacting particles. Like charges repel each other, while opposite charges attract. This force is mediated by photons, which are elementary particles that carry electromagnetic energy. The strength of the electromagnetic force decreases with distance, but it has an infinite range, meaning its influence extends indefinitely, though it becomes weaker over larger scales.

The study of electromosmágneses has led to a deep understanding of electricity and magnetism, which were initially considered separate phenomena. James Clerk Maxwell unified these concepts in the 19th century with his equations, which describe the behavior of electric and magnetic fields and predict the existence of electromagnetic waves. These discoveries paved the way for modern technologies like telecommunications, power generation, and medical imaging. The quantum theory of electromagnetism, known as quantum electrodynamics (QED), is one of the most precisely tested theories in physics.
