The name Eieroa derives from the resemblance of the mature fruit to an egg, a trait that has informed its depiction in various regional flora accounts.

Morphology: Plants reach 20–40 cm in height, with a basal rosette of broad elliptic leaves. The inflorescence is a short raceme bearing small greenish flowers. Following flowering, the plant bears one to several ovoid fruits about 1.5–2 cm long, smooth and glossy, sometimes with a pale yellow to orange tint when mature.

Distribution and habitat: Eieroa is described as native to the temperate coastal forests of the Nordal Archipelago, within the fictional continent of Veridia. It favors shaded, humid understories, often on moss-covered soils and along streams.

Ecology and reproduction: The species is said to form a mycorrhizal association with ectomycorrhizal fungi, relying on this partnership for nutrient uptake. Pollination is accomplished by small insects attracted to minute nectar glands on the blossoms. Seeds germinate in contact with the soil after passage through the gut of a small mammal or following disturbance that creates bare soil.
