Egységmérséklet, meaning "unit temperature" in Hungarian, is a conceptual term used primarily in older scientific or technical contexts to refer to a standard or baseline temperature against which other temperatures are compared. It is not a formally recognized unit of measurement in modern international systems like the SI. Instead, it represented a reference point, often the freezing point of water or a similar readily accessible temperature, used for calibration or to simplify calculations in specific applications.

The concept was more prevalent in an era before standardized temperature scales like Celsius and Fahrenheit were universally adopted and precisely defined. For instance, in some early thermodynamic discussions or engineering problems, a simplified approach might involve setting a reference "unit temperature" to zero or a convenient value to focus on relative changes. This allowed for a degree of simplification in expressing thermal differences or energy states without needing to specify an absolute value on a calibrated scale.
