dönemden

Dönemden is the ablative form of the Turkish noun dön em, meaning “from the period” or “from the era.” In Turkish grammar, the ablative case signals origin, source, or movement away from something, and is formed by adding -den or -dan to a noun. The form dön emden is therefore used to indicate that something originates in or is taken from a particular period, or to specify a starting point in time.

The usage of dön emden is common in historical, archival, and scholarly writing, where authors situate events, artifacts, or trends within a specific era. It can be paired with other particles such as itibaren to express a temporal progression, for example, “ikinci döneminden itibaren,” meaning “from the second period onward.” Other common constructions include phrases like “Osmanlı döneminden bu yana…” (“since the Ottoman period…”) and “dönemden kalma belgeler” (“documents from the period”).

Dönemden should be distinguished from döneminde, which uses the locative case to indicate containment or occurrence within a period (in the period / during the period). While dön emden conveys origin or starting point, döneminde focuses on events or conditions happening inside a certain era.
