Dualchamber, often written as dual-chamber, is a term used to describe systems that incorporate two distinct functional chambers. In medicine, the phrase most commonly refers to cardiac pacing and defibrillation devices that use two leads placed in the right atrium and right ventricle. A dual-chamber device can sense and pace in both chambers, allowing atrioventricular synchrony and more natural cardiac function compared with single-chamber systems.
