Douglasia is a genus of dwarf shrubs in the family Primulaceae. These plants are native to mountainous regions of western North America, particularly the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. Douglasia species are characterized by their small size, often forming dense mats or cushions of foliage. Their leaves are typically needle-like or linear and are evergreen.

The flowers of Douglasia are usually pink or purple and appear in spring or early summer. They are often borne singly or in small clusters at the tips of stems. The genus is named in honor of the Scottish botanist David Douglas, who collected many plants in North America during the 19th century.

Douglasia species are adapted to harsh alpine conditions, including high winds, cold temperatures, and poor, rocky soils. They are often found growing in scree slopes, rock crevices, and alpine meadows. Due to their small stature and attractive flowers, they are sometimes cultivated in rock gardens, though their specific needs for excellent drainage and cool conditions can make them challenging to grow outside of their native environment.

Several species are recognized within the genus, with variations in leaf shape, flower color, and growth habit. These plants play a role in their alpine ecosystems, providing ground cover and habitat for small invertebrates. Their presence is an indicator of undisturbed alpine environments.
