Douaneaangelegenheden is a Dutch term that literally means “customs matters”. It refers to all activities, regulations, and administration related to the control and assessment of goods that move across national borders. In the Netherlands, douaneaangelegenheden is primarily handled by the Dutch customs authority, the Belastingdienst, which enforces customs and excise laws, manages import and export duties, and ensures compliance with international trade agreements.

The scope of douaneaangelegenheden includes passporting procedures for goods, inspection of cargo, evaluation of tariffs, and the prevention of smuggling, money laundering, and other illicit trade.
