Displey, often spelled "display," refers to the visual output device of an electronic system. It is the component responsible for presenting information to the user in a graphical or textual format. Displays are integral to a vast range of devices, from smartphones and televisions to computers and automobiles.

The technology behind displays has evolved significantly over time. Early displays relied on cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which used electron beams to illuminate phosphors on a screen. More modern displays utilize flat-panel technologies, with liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) being the most prevalent. LCDs work by blocking or allowing light to pass through liquid crystals, while OLEDs generate their own light through organic compounds.

Key characteristics of a display include its resolution, which refers to the number of pixels it contains, determining the sharpness and detail of the image. Refresh rate, measured in Hertz (Hz), indicates how many times the image on the screen is updated per second, affecting the smoothness of motion. Color depth determines the number of colors a display can reproduce. The size of a display is typically measured diagonally in inches. The functionality of a display is to translate digital data into a visual representation, enabling human interaction with technology.
