Difunctionality is the property of a system, molecule, or material that contains two distinct functional groups, capabilities, or activities. In this sense, a difunctional entity can engage in two different reactions, connect two components, or perform two roles within a single substance or architecture.

In chemistry and polymer science, difunctional reagents have two reactive sites. They are used as linkers and crosslinkers to form networks, or as building blocks in step-growth polymerizations. Common examples include diacrylates, diisocyanates, diamines, and diglycidyl ethers.
