Didentité is a term that appears only rarely in French-language texts and does not have a single, widely accepted definition. It is not listed in major dictionaries, and when it occurs, it is often either as a typographical variant of d’identité (of identity) or as a recently coined neologism built from identité with prefixes such as de- or dés-, signaling a change in state.

Because the term lacks standardization, its meaning is highly context-dependent. In sociolinguistic or cultural studies, didentité may be used to describe processes of disidentification or the destabilization of fixed identities—how individuals negotiate multiple or fluid identities across social settings or digital platforms. In this sense, it can be viewed as a shorthand for ideas related to identity plurality or identity work.

In data privacy or information governance discourse, didentité could be employed informally to refer to de-identification—the removing or masking of personally identifiable information to reduce identifiability. In formal French usage, however, the established terms are dé-identification or désidentification, and didentité would be considered nonstandard or context-specific shorthand.

In philosophy or logic, some authors might encounter didentité as a way to discuss identity statements or criteria of identity, though the conventional terminology remains identité and l’égalité d’identité rather than didentité. Because of its uncertain status, readers should rely on the author’s explicit definition when encountering the term.
