dialuminum
Dialuminum is a hypothetical molecule composed of two aluminum atoms. While diatomic molecules of alkali metals and some other elements are known, dialuminum has not been definitively observed or synthesized under standard conditions. Theoretical calculations suggest that a dialuminum molecule, Al2, might exist in the gas phase at very high temperatures, or as a transient species in specific chemical environments. Its electronic structure and bonding characteristics have been subjects of theoretical investigation. Some studies predict a relatively weak Al-Al bond. The lack of experimental confirmation means that dialuminum is not a well-established chemical compound in the same way as many other metal dimers. Its existence and properties remain largely within the realm of theoretical chemistry.
