Desztillációs, or distillation in English, is a process used to separate components of a liquid mixture by selective boiling and condensation. It is a fundamental technique in chemistry and industry, employed for purifying liquids and separating substances with different boiling points. The process involves heating a mixture to vaporize one or more components, then cooling the vapor to condense it back into a liquid. This condensed liquid, now enriched in the more volatile component, is collected separately.

The simplest form of distillation is simple distillation, suitable for separating liquids with significantly different boiling points or for separating a volatile liquid from a non-volatile solute. Fractional distillation, on the other hand, is used when the boiling points of the components are closer together. It utilizes a fractionating column, which provides a larger surface area for repeated vaporization and condensation cycles, leading to a more efficient separation.
