Címerez is a small village located in the southern part of Hungary, within Baranya County. The settlement lies on the western slope of the Mecsek mountains, approximately 15 kilometres south of the county seat, Pécs. Historically, the village is first documented in the early 14th century under the name "Cimere" and is mentioned in various royal land grants of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. The name is believed to derive from the old Hungarian word “cím,” meaning “title” or “designation,” in reference to a local feudal estate.
