Cytologically is an adverb used to describe observations, findings, or processes that pertain to cytology, the branch of biology and medicine devoted to the study of cells, their structure, function, and pathology.

Cytology (from Greek cytos, cell, and logia, study) investigates cellular morphology, composition, and abnormalities. Cytology is valued for being minimally invasive and rapid, though it may have limitations. It often provides cellular detail but lacks the architectural context of tissue biopsies, so cytologic findings may be inconclusive and require histopathologic correlation or biopsy for definitive diagnosis.
