Correctietape, known in English as correction tape, is a dry method for covering errors on paper. It consists of a small hand-held dispenser that carries an opaque, self-adhesive tape. When pressed and dragged across the mistake, the tape adheres to the page and forms a thin, white layer that can be written over almost immediately.

The tape is typically a thin plastic film coated with an adhesive. The dispenser uses a roller mechanism to feed the tape and press it flat onto the surface, creating a smooth cover. Because it dries quickly, it allows for fast re-editing, making it popular in schools, offices, and homes.

Variants and sizes vary by brand. Common widths range from about 4.2 mm to 12 mm, with longer rolls providing more coverage between refills. Some products are designed for left-handed users, have ergonomic grips, or are refillable, while others are disposable. In addition to standard white tape, some versions offer tinted or colored options for organizing notes or for decorative purposes.

Usage notes: correctietape works best on standard writing paper and clean, dry surfaces. It may not stick well to very glossy or highly textured paper, and thick or multilayered ink can still show through or feather at the edge. The surface should be smooth to prevent the tape from peeling off. After application, the corrected area can be written over with pencil, pen, or marker, depending on the tape and ink involved.
