congenitus
Congenitus is a Latin adjective meaning “born together” or “inborn.” In modern English, the form is rarely used outside quotation of Latin sources. The more common term is congenital, which describes conditions present at birth or inherent from birth. Historically, congenitus appeared in medical, zoological, and legal Latin phrases to denote attributes or conditions existing from birth. In contemporary medical and scientific writing, congenital is preferred; congenitus survives mainly in historical, philological, or ceremonial contexts.
