Concessão is a term used in Portuguese to describe a grant or concession, often in the context of public services or infrastructure. It refers to a contract between a government entity and a private company where the government grants the private entity the right to operate, manage, and maintain a public service or infrastructure for a specified period. This typically involves services like transportation, energy, water supply, or telecommunications.

The primary purpose of a concessão is to allow private sector expertise and capital to improve the delivery and efficiency of public services.
