Coastaltown is a coastal town and municipal seat of Coast County in Veridia. It is located on the northern coast of Veridia’s mainland, about 60 kilometers from the national capital. The town sits at the head of a natural harbor and has a long shoreline with beaches, bluffs, and tidal flats, making it a center for maritime activity.

Founded in the early 18th century as a fishing village, Coastaltown developed into a port town during the 19th century as shipping and trade expanded. The arrival of the regional railway in the late 19th century spurred population growth and industrial development. In the 20th century the harbor underwent modernization and the economy diversified into seafood processing, tourism, and maritime services.

Today, Coastaltown’s economy relies on fishing and seafood processing, harbor-related services, small manufacturing, and visitor-oriented businesses. The population is around 12,000 residents, with Veridian as the majority language and a small share of immigrant communities contributing to the cultural mix.

The town is governed by a mayor and a five-member town council. It maintains a public school system including Coastaltown High School and a local library. Cultural life centers on coastal festivals, the Lighthouse Museum, and markets in the Old Harbor district. Points of interest include Coastaltown Lighthouse, the harbor breakwater, and the historic Market Square.

Coastaltown faces challenges common to small port towns, including coastal erosion and the need to sustain employment in a changing economy. Efforts focus on waterfront redevelopment, tourism, and environmental stewardship.
