Cirkóniumércekbl, also known as zirconium ores, are naturally occurring geological materials from which zirconium can be economically extracted. The primary and most commercially significant zirconium ore is zircon (zirconium silicate, ZrSiO4). Zircon is found in igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks, and sedimentary rocks, often concentrated in placer deposits along coastlines and riverbeds. These deposits form through the weathering and erosion of older rocks containing zircon.

Another important zirconium-bearing mineral is baddeleyite (zirconium dioxide, ZrO2). Baddeleyite is less common than zircon but is a richer source of zirconium. It typically occurs in alkaline igneous rocks.

The extraction of zirconium from its ores involves several complex chemical and physical processes. Initially, the ores are mined and then beneficiated to increase the concentration of zirconium minerals. This often involves crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, and gravity separation. The concentrated ore is then subjected to chemical processing, which can include alkali fusion or chlorination to break down the mineral structure and liberate zirconium compounds. These compounds are then further purified to produce zirconium metal or various zirconium chemicals. Zirconium's unique properties, such as its high melting point, corrosion resistance, and low neutron absorption cross-section, make it valuable in a wide range of applications, including ceramics, refractories, nuclear reactors, and alloys.
