Cinkszórás, also known as zinc spraying or metallization, is a protective coating process used to prevent corrosion on metal surfaces, particularly steel. It involves applying a layer of molten zinc onto the substrate using a specialized spray gun. The zinc particles are atomized and propelled at high velocity onto the prepared surface, where they rapidly cool and bond, forming a dense and continuous protective barrier.

The process begins with thorough surface preparation, typically sandblasting, to remove any rust, scale, or contaminants and to create a roughened profile for optimal adhesion. The molten zinc, heated in a wire-fed or powder-fed thermal spray gun, is then applied. The temperature and spray pattern are carefully controlled to ensure uniform coverage and thickness.

Cinkszórás offers excellent long-term corrosion resistance, even in harsh environments. The zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, corroding preferentially to protect the underlying steel. This galvanic protection is highly effective and extends the lifespan of structures significantly. The coating is also impact-resistant and can be applied to complex shapes and large structures like bridges, pipelines, and offshore platforms. Following cinkszórás, the zinc layer can be further protected and aesthetically enhanced with the application of sealants and paint systems.
