Chalcidica, also known as Chalcidice or the Chalcidic Peninsula, is a peninsula in northeastern Greece, located in the region of Macedonia. It is divided into three distinct "fingers" or peninsulas that extend into the Aegean Sea: Kassandra to the west, Sithonia in the middle, and Athos to the east. The peninsula is characterized by a diverse landscape, featuring rugged mountains, dense pine forests, and a coastline dotted with sandy beaches and picturesque coves.

The history of Chalcidica is rich and ancient. It was an important area in classical antiquity, home to several prominent city-states, most notably Olynthus. The peninsula played a significant role in the Peloponnesian War and later came under Macedonian rule. During the Byzantine era, the easternmost peninsula, Athos, became a major center of Orthodox monasticism, a tradition that continues to this day with the monastic community of Mount Athos, an autonomous state within Greece.

Modern Chalcidica is a popular tourist destination, renowned for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Kassandra is known for its lively resorts and nightlife, while Sithonia offers a more tranquil experience with its pristine beaches and traditional villages. Mount Athos remains a spiritual center, accessible primarily to male pilgrims. The economy of the region relies heavily on tourism, agriculture, and fishing.
