A certifikátm is a type of digital certificate used in cryptography and network security. It is an electronic document that verifies the ownership and identity of an entity, such as an individual, an organization, or a website. These certificates are typically issued by a trusted third party known as a Certificate Authority (CA).

The primary purpose of a certifikátm is to establish trust and ensure the authenticity of digital communications and transactions. When a certifikátm is used, it binds a public key to the identity of the subject. This public key can then be used by others to encrypt messages that only the corresponding private key holder can decrypt, or to verify digital signatures made by the private key holder. This forms the basis of secure communication protocols like SSL/TLS, which are commonly used to secure web traffic.

A certifikátm contains several key pieces of information, including the subject's name, the subject's public key, the issuer's name (the CA), the validity period of the certificate, and a unique serial number. The CA digitally signs the certificate, which allows recipients to verify that the certificate has not been tampered with and that it was indeed issued by a trusted authority. If a browser or application encounters a certifikátm, it checks the digital signature against the CA's public key. If the signature is valid and the certificate has not expired, it indicates a trustworthy identity.
