Centrifugální refers to a type of force or motion associated with rotation. When an object is in circular motion, it experiences a tendency to move away from the center of rotation. This outward tendency is often described as centrifugal force, though in physics, it's more accurately understood as an effect of inertia.

An object moving in a circle requires a centripetal force to constantly pull it towards the center, thereby changing its direction of motion. Without this inward force, the object would continue in a straight line tangential to its circular path, a consequence of its inertia. The apparent outward force that an observer in the rotating frame of reference perceives is the centrifugal effect.

This principle is utilized in various applications. Centrifuges, for example, use rapid rotation to separate substances of different densities. In a centrifuge, the denser components are pushed further outward due to the centrifugal effect, allowing for their separation from lighter components. Similarly, in a washing machine's spin cycle, centrifugal force helps to extract water from clothes. Many amusement park rides, such as the Gravitron, also employ centrifugal forces to press riders against the wall of a rotating cylinder.
